Introducing Flat Kat – my new travelling companion!

I’d like to introduce my new traveling companion. His name is Flat Kat, and is a member of Mrs. McIlroy’s 5th grade class at Coxsackie-Athens.

Flat Kat

In a business letter, Flat Kat asked to join me on my travels and gave a whole list of reasons why he will make a terrific travel companion. You can check out a copy of the business letter, and my reply on Flat Kat’s very own page! Just click on the tab that says “Flat Kat” at the top of this page, and you’ll be able to keep tabs on Flat Kat’s whereabouts and most recent escapades.

I wonder if Flat Kat is going to be able to keep me in line? We’ll have to see!

  1. Mr. Roberg we all miss you so much!! Though it helps to know that your doing things you’ve always wanted. I love this cat. I was one of Mrs. McIlroy’s students her first year here, so I know the cat quite well. I only just relized recently that this website exsisted, or I obviously would’ve been writing this whole time. Don’t forget to feed Flat Kat =)

  5. Dear Mr.Roberg,

Is India cool? How is the food? I’ ve had indian food but never had REAL INDIAN FOOD FROM INDIA so, can u tell me what it tastes like ; – )

    My Reply
    Dear David,
That’s a really hard question. I’m not too much of a chef (I can hardly tell the difference between a cucumber and a zucchini, and I rarely know the ingredients of anything I eat). So, it’s hard for me to describe the taste of “real” Indian food. In fact, one of the hardest things to get used to is having so many choices. In almost every restaurant I go into, the menu is 4, 6, or even 8 pages long!!!

In general, though, Indian food is either vegetarian or non-vegetarian. By non-vegetarian, they mean you could have lamb (also known as mutton) or chicken. Indians don’t eat anything from a cow (ex. steak, hamburger, veal, etc). Indian dishes are usually served in a spicy sauce and eaten with rice or a form of bread like a thick pita.

I’ve had very spicy meals, and some that are mild, but ALL of them have been tasty in one way or another. I don’t think there is such a thing as a bland meal in India.

Sorry, I don’t know the spices or lots of other ingredients. If I did, maybe I could describe how some of the dishes taste. All I know is that I’m going to go to a couple Indian restaurants when I get home to see if the food they offer is the same, and if they taste the same.

Hope that answered your question well enough.
    Mr. Roberg
